Welcome to the first ever LOVE METAL ART CONTEST!
Hope you're as excited as I am.
Let's get started!

All you have to do...is draw the main characters!

Dante Fero

You also have the option of drawing

BRANDON MARXON

However, if you haven’t read the story (SPOILER ALERT) you should know that Brandon is also Dante, so if you want to include them in the same drawing, it would only really work metaphorically (kind of like the chapter 2 cover).

RULES

-You can submit as many entries as you’d like, although that won’t increase your chances of winning. Quality over quantity!

-You can draw them doing whatever, within reason (NO PORNOGRAPHY)

-Every medium is accepted! I will not use any personal bias in medium when judging. Just do whatever medium you’re the most comfortable with. If you’re not sure about it, don’t be afraid to ask me.

-NO CROSSOVERS. For instance, please don’t draw them as My Little Pony characters.

-No original characters.  You may include other Love Metal characters, but Karin, Dante, or Brandon have to be the main focus.

-Like I said before, no sexual/erotic themes. The winners and honorable mentions will be placed in the printed book, and I don’t want to make the rating higher than it already is. If you’re really set on drawing something like that, you’re free to. Just know it won’t be eligible for the contest.

-Make it to the deadline as best as you can. If you’re nearly completed with your piece and it’s just past the deadline, I’ll most likely make an exception (because I've been there).

-Don’t use base poses or steal concepts from other works of art.

-If you use a stock background/pattern, make sure it’s okay with the original creator and that you credit them in your comments.

-You have the option of drawing the characters in their outfits from the story, or in different outfits that you think would suit them. If you decide to draw them in something different, I've added in their character bios what clothing they would prefer.

-Don’t be an asshole to other competitors.

-Most importantly, HAVE FUN!!

-You can submit your entries to me through a DA note/comment, email (hvoiceartist@gmail.com), or facebook/twitter private message.

Entries will be judged on overall composition, creativity, and how well you captured the characters.

Karin

Age: 17
Height: 5’7
Hair color: Dark brown
Eye color: Brown
Sex: Female/Straight
Likes: Playing music (on her guitar or violin), listening to her favorite bands, heavy metal/Hard Rock, shady music clubs, shady coffee houses, abandoned locations.
Hates: Social media, memes, studying, everyone in her school, men with no self confidence, pop music, decaf coffee.

Karin has a tough personality, and by that I mean she doesn’t take crap from anyone. Even though she’s a good person at heart, if you piss her off, she’ll get you back tenfold. That being said, in her school life she hides her real personality to avoid opening up to her pretentious and privileged classmates, who she hates with a fiery passion. Other than that, she doesn’t have any real friends. The only time she can truly be herself is when she attends local metal concerts, usually for the band RavenCross, whose lead singer is her crush, Dante Fero.

Clothing Preference (In case you want to draw her in something different)
Karin hates skirts/dresses. She likes to be comfortable. She loves wearing leather jackets, band t-shirts, jeans, and leather cuffs. (Her top favorite bands aside from RavenCross are Pantera, Korn, Avenged Sevenfold, Avatar, Guns N’ Roses, Slipknot, Metallica, and Red Hot Chili Peppers)*

Dante

Age: 18
Height: 6’0
Hair color: Black
Eye color: Yellow
Sex: Male/ Straight
Role in the band: Lead singer
Likes: All kinds of music (Metal and Hard Rock is his top genre though), hanging with his band, writing music, playing gigs, his fans, watching other live bands, shady music clubs, energy drinks.
Hates: Cooking, music snobs, pretentious and privileged assholes, people who don’t believe in music as a profession.

Dante may come off arrogant at first, but he’s just genuinely proud of what he and RavenCross have accomplished, and he’s not afraid to show it. He takes music seriously, and he and the rest of the band agree to never cater towards mainstream elements just for the sake of popularity. They play what they like, and if other people like it, then that’s a bonus. Dante is very grateful for his fans, and RavenCross who took him in as their new lead singer 2 years ago. In fact, he considers them as more of a family than his real one. Whenever Dante is on stage with the band, even when they’re playing something really thrashing and intense, he’s always smiling.

Clothing Preference (In case you want to draw him in something different)
Dante doesn’t like to dress too formal.  He hates tight clothes. Much like Karin, he likes to be comfortable. If he ever does wear something formal, the sleeves are probably ripped off. On that note, he loves sleeveless shirts/jackets, but nothing too flashy. Long sleeved leather jackets are fine, but they have to be pretty large since he has big arms. Dante also likes band t-shirts (and his favorite bands are, Pantera, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Opeth, Avenged Sevenfold, Guns N’ Roses, and Five Finger Death Punch)*

*Since your artwork has the chance to be included in a product I'm selling, if you draw them in band t-shirts, please do not copy and paste licensed band logos.  Be creative with it.*

Brandon

 

Age: 18
Height: 6’0
Hair color: Light brown
Eye color: Yellow
Sex: Male/ Straight

Brandon is the eldest son of the Marxon family, the wealthiest family in the city. He’s always expected to be nothing less than flawless in everything he does (mannerisms, academics, athletics, ect.), especially at his school, which his parents practically helped build from the ground up. Because of his good looks and perfection in general, he easily became the most popular guy in school (which Karin hates him for ironically).

Other than Brandon’s school uniform, you can pretty much dress him up in anything formal and you’re good.
